Upon discovering that International Men's Day was not being observed in American correctional facilities, in 2012, the USA International Men's Day Team established and implemented the International Men's Day "Healing and Repatriation" Initiative. The USA International Men's Day Team created the position of "Empowerment Coordinator" and selected native New Yorker, Mr. Carry Greaves, who is a published free-lance journalist, Senior Contributing Editor to IN SEARCH OF FATHERHOOD(R), mentor, and Self-Empowerment and Relationship Guru to assume a leadership role for the International Men's Day "Healing and Repatriation" Initiative as its "Empowerment Coordinator". The USA International Men's Day Team is pleased to announce that Mr. Carry Greaves has been appointed as the National Chair for the International Men's Day "Healing And Repatriation" Initiative. Under Mr. Greaves' leadership, observances of International Men's Day have occurred at numerous correctional facilities. These observances have taken the form of an atonement program; discussion groups, forums, and panel discussions involving Incarcerated Men who engage in solutions-based dialogues on eradicating crime and violence our communities; and mentoring and tutoring. In 2017, the International Men's Day "Healing and Repatriation" Initiative expanded beyond the observance of International Men's Day. Mentoring sessions, designed and implemented by Mr. Greaves, for incarcerated young males have become a component of the International Men's Day "Healing And Repatriation" Initiative. The inaugural mentoring sessions commenced in June 2017 at the Adirondack Correctional Facility located in Raybrook, New York.
IN SEARCH OF FATHERHOOD(R) facilitates a Global Dialogue on Fatherhood and Men's Issues which explores and addresses key challenges -- mental and physical health, real-life options, poverty, hunger, homelessness, Fatherlessness, parental alienation, mass incarceration, religious and ethnic intolerance -- which prevent Men and Boys from living healthier, purpose-driven, and longer lives.
